After only scoring 5 goals in 28 games so far this season, the PutinTeam captain Alexander Ovechkin, who also plays for the Washington Capitals, blamed Ukrainian-Canadians for his poor performance in a press conference on Monday.

“Defence is too strong, us Russians can’t seem to get goal” he said. On pace for just 15 goals this season, his quest for the all time goal record is now in jeopardy. “I had no goals against Florida and none against Ottawa this year. Tkachuk brothers have stopped me like winter does Lada.”

Asked for his thoughts on Wayne Gretzky cheering for him to break the record, Ovechkin said, “Technically the record is already Russian as the name ‘Gretzky’ comes from Russian region”.
