A Vancouver man has been charged after opening the cabin door and jumping onto the runway on Monday. The flight was headed to Munich, Germany which meant that Air Canada would be giving their announcements in English, French and German. The man told police that after hearing the departure announcement in all three languages he realized that all the announcements were going to be this way.
“I couldn’t handle a twelve hour flight with every announcement being stated three times. Even the turbulence announcements are given three times.” After learning the plane was made by Airbus and not Boeing so there was little chance of a window falling off the plane and him being sucked out, he decided to take matters into his own hands, “I decided I couldn’t handle having my movies interrupted so often, so I did what I had to do. Plus the meal was going to be fish. I have no regrets besides leaving my wife and son to listen to the announcements alone”.
Vancouver Police say they understand the man’s frustration, but that jumping onto the runway was “retarded”. The man is now searching for another airline, that gives announcements in only one language, to take him to Germany after he is released from jail.
